That was a really encouraging performance! I’m so glad we continued from where we left off last season.
I felt that it was really important that we got off to a good start to keep everyone positive, and even when we went behind early on, it always felt like we were going to win the game.
I want to shout out our two wing-backs. They were exceptional. They both improved on the back end of last season. But today, their end product was unrecognisable and their running off the ball was really effective. They got a goal and two assists between them, so it was nice to see the hard work in pre-season paying off.
And in all honesty, it happened all over the pitch really. Our defence looked solid and compact for the majority of the game. Our midfield operated really effectively, constantly making progressive passes, feeding our attackers.
Bissouma is a fantastic signing, but he has work to do to get into this side. Bentancur and Højbjerg look really solid at the minute, and you can’t really knock their partnership.

As for the attack, Dejan Kulusevski ran the show. He was absolutely everywhere. He is such a clever player, with bags of ability. The thing that amazes me about him, is he constantly makes the right decisions in the final third. I reckon he’s probably up there with the most intelligent players in the league, which is complemented really nicely by his incredible strength which enables him to hold players off and feed the ball through tight spaces. Obviously, he isn’t half bad technically either.

Another positive was that Son and Kane didn’t perform to their best. It might sound strange, but I believe this shows, that we are more than the "Son and Kane team."
Our whole squad is key if we want a successful season. Especially, now that there are 5 substitutes, most players in the squad will have a big part to play in our season. This will become evident once we start to see more rotation, which will occur once we are playing twice a week. For once, it shouldn’t even be an issue for us!
This is the first time in a while that I remember Spurs having pretty good depth, and that’ll be an important factor in our season, trust me!
As for the future, our next game is Chelsea (A), a fixture in which we historically do not do well. We have only won there once in 32 years! I’m not exactly optimistic, as they always seem to pull it out the bag against us.
However, if there were a time when we were going to beat Chelsea, it is now. So let’s just see what happens.
Come On You Spurs!
